Yogi Bhajan said that sexual energy is the only energy that can be converted to spiritual energy. it sounds like both you guys have enormous potential to get connected and live an amazing life. Sometimes we just need to experience lots of different ways of living before we figure out what will really make us happy. I know I did.
I agree that sat kriya is a good place to start I also found breath of fire, alternate nostril breathing, med for a calm heart and the guru ram das mantra instrumental in helping me balance my fire energy.
You guys are together for a reason it is great that you can help each other.

[Kundalini Yoga] controlling breath

 

Hello, I'm new here and am exploring Kundalini yoga on my own with a home practice. There or no teachers or studios around Hatha or otherwise. I was introduced by Gurmukh's prenatal DVD and postnatal DVD. I have been practicing using her regular DVD that I've borrowed from Netflix. I have also practiced using Maya Fiennes and her DVDs. When not doing Kundalini, I'm usually found doing Vinyasa yoga either with Jason Crandall or Baron Baptiste recordings.
My specific question at the time is controlling the breath. There is a meditation at the end of the Gurmukh DVD where you take a deep breath, release all air, then repeat the syllables of Sat Nam 4 times. It feels so impossible for me and makes me feel like I am about to pass out. It leaves me gasping for air. There is also an asana where we do a forward bend, release all air, and then pump the abdomen without breathing for 15-30 seconds I believe. I'm not able to do that one either. How do I build up to these things? I hope this type of question is appropriate here as I have no other person to ask.
I am really enjoying Kundalini and I feel like it will benefit me emotionally and physically with some health issues I am facing.

The separation can feel painful, unfair, hard to accept. A friend once said to me that "a broken heart" is a "open heart".
It is great if you can stay with what you feel until it dissolves. Look for Kirtan Kriya and relax. You are loved. So many of us have you in our prayers.

[Kundalini Yoga] [Kundalini-Yoga] Tantra set

 

Sat Nam,
Over a year ago (maybe two or more?) I had read about tantra via the
kundaliniyoga.org or yogatech.com website. There was a full set (krya?)
associated with it. It was intimidating and I was hesitant to try it, but
it was designed to help lovers hold tension in the heart center.

Does anyone know which set I'm talking about? Where might I find this link?

I'm wondering if the "Sa Ta Na Ma" Kriya would help. I'm going through many changes (coming out of an emotionally abusive work relationship) and have begun this kriya for 40 days. Cycle of life, there's a time for everything to either die or be regenerated.

Wow this sounds intense. Pranayama will help fill yourself with the breath. Sitali pranayama will have a cooling effect as will left nostril breathing feel the earth below nurturing and supporting you and ground the energy down. This moon is intense I am not sleeping much so am doing breath work and meditation as much as possible.
